Build Bright was founded from a passion for repairing older properties.
Born in Winchester and coming from a family of builders, David grew up learning various skills that when his partner decided to buy an old Victorian terraced house he thought he would be able to unleash these. On receiving a surveyor report it picked up on the building being poorly repointed in cement mortar as well as other issues relating to dampness. This set the ball rolling and wanting to be in keeping with the original build an interest in using lime mortar and repairing older properties came about.
Over the years and after much research, experimenting, practicing, and successful work for various homeowners it became apparent a need for this type of work has gained great momentum with so many beautiful buildings being badly repaired in the past with the wrong materials.
Having a sympathetic approach to older buildings and the way they are designed is key to understanding the correct repair methods and materials to be used. Achieving a good clean quality finish and attention to detail are also paramount and something David prides himself on.
The name Build Bright (construct, intelligent) is a nod to a dear friend who is no longer with us. As well as being lifelong friends we partnered up a good few years back under the name Brighter Build. Sadly this name was taken so Build Bright was as close as I could get, Here's to you buddy.
